Purpose

Prepare a policy request concerning a confidential government identifier, bank or credit-card number, handwritten signature or ID-document image, private official record, or confidential login credential.

Applicable policy and verification date

Google’s private-information page lists each of these categories. The current detailed form provides corresponding category choices and requests limited identifying fragments for some numeric data. Verified 2026-10-17. (Policy; form)

Audience

The person identified by the data or an authorized representative.

Before you begin

Take any independent protective action the exposure requires—for example, change compromised credentials or contact an account issuer. Search-result removal does not revoke credentials, cancel a card, or delete the source.

Prerequisites

  • The live source still displays the information.
  • The category matches the data exposed.
  • The exact page or image URL is known.
  • The requester can truthfully confirm identity or authority.

Required inputs and evidence

Keep a redacted working record. Use a category label and a short fragment rather than reproducing a full identifier. The current form asks for the last characters/digits of a bank account, credit card, or government ID in relevant branches and the issuing country for a government ID. Supply sensitive data only in the official form field that requests it. Screenshots should show enough context to locate the exposure without adding unrelated personal data.

Procedure

  1. Identify the specific category and confirm the data belongs to the affected person.
  2. Copy the exact page URL. For a separate image, also obtain the image/search result URL using Google’s URL instructions.
  3. Create a redacted evidence record with the observed date and relevant context.
  4. Open the detailed personal-content form.
  5. Select personal information, then the matching category.
  6. Enter only the value or fragment the official form requests for that branch.
  7. Add the specific URL, Search context, screenshot, and concise explanation requested by the form.
  8. Review the confirmation of accuracy and authority; submit and save the receipt.

Expected result

Google assesses the submitted URL against the selected personal-information policy and public-interest considerations, then sends notice of action or an explanation when requirements are not met.

Next steps

Track the request in Request status. Ask the website owner to remove the underlying data when appropriate.

Troubleshooting and exceptions

  • Do not paste a full identifier into notes, filenames, or email subject lines.
  • A screenshot that hides the relevant category can prevent the reviewer from locating it; redact unrelated data, not the evidence being assessed.
  • “Other personal information” is not blanket coverage. Explain its nature and relationship to the affected person.
  • Use outdated-content refresh only after the source changes.
